Finite vs Infinite Games, Giving in Abundance, Mirror Loops and Finding Purpose

Welcome to the Inner Edge, where I explore insights on wealth, fulfillment, growth, and mastery.

What Type of Games Are You Playing?

I’m sharing this story because I went so long not understanding it.

For a long time, I operated out of scarcity.

I thought I had to beat others to win—like every game was zero-sum.

Then, something flipped.

I realized there are two kinds of games you can play:

  1. Finite Games
    Played to win.

  2. Infinite Games
    Played to keep playing.

For most of my life, I was playing finite, zero-sum games.

So I made a switch. I started thinking about infinite games where everyone wins.

In other words: just because I win doesn’t mean you lose.

The pie is infinite.

We both can win. In fact, it’s better when we do.

Because not only can help each other win, but we can enjoy the winning together too.

And if that’s not enough, it turns out that mostly every successful person thinks in this way too.

1) Just because you succeed, doesn’t mean others can’t.

and

2) Just because others succeed, doesn’t mean you can’t.

And interestingly, this mindset shift will actually get you to success faster (more on this later).

“Play long-term games with long-term people. All returns in life, whether in wealth, relationships, or knowledge come from compound interest.”

Naval Ravikant

So find a way to give value in every single interaction that you have.

If I could talk to my younger self, I'd tell him to keep finding ways to give as much value as possible.

By operating out of abundance, you attract abundance to you.

What you believe determines how you act and in turn what you get back from the universe.

If you believe things are scarce, you are going to act in that way and live in scarcity.

If you believe things are abundant, you are going to act in that way and live in abundance.

At any given moment, we can choose to change the way we think and act.

Give as Much as you Can

Giving > Receiving

There’s something deeply fulfilling about giving more than you take.

It lights a spark inside you that nothing else can.

Yes, you need to fill your own cup first. But here’s the paradox:

The more you give, the more full your cup becomes.

That’s the magic of living abundantly.

That’s why building a business is about so much more than money.

That’s why helping others means more than the recognition.

Because true abundance isn't measured by what you keep.

It's felt by what you pour into the world.

A Tiny Act of Giving That Changed the World

In the 1970s, a teacher named Muhammad Yunus visited a poor village in Bangladesh.

He met women who made bamboo stools.

And he realized that all of them were trapped in debt.

They had to borrow tiny amounts of money (less than $1) just to buy supplies.

But the lenders charged so much interest that the women never made any profit.

That’s when Yunus had an insane idea:

“What if I just gave them the money?”

The thing was there were no contracts or anything either. Yunus had to just trust that it would work.

People said he was crazy.

Banks told him, “Poor people won’t pay you back.”

But Yunus didn’t listen.

He gave 42 women a total of $27 from his own pocket.

A few weeks later—every single one of them paid him back.

That small act sparked a global movement.

He started Grameen Bank—giving tiny loans to millions of people based on one thing: Trust.

Today, Grameen has distributed over $6 billion in loans.

And Muhammad Yunus won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.

All because he led with abundance—when everyone else operated from fear.

The Mirror Loop Principle

  • Muhammad Yunus projected trust → received trust

  • Muhammad Yunus gave without keeping score → built global impact

  • Muhammad Yunus saw dignity where others saw risk → changed millions of lives

Find Your Purpose to Feel More Abundant

I was recently listening to a wonderful podcast.

The title was "How to Find Your Purpose and Design the Life You Want".

In the podcast, Mel Robbins and Dr. Martha Beck talk about discovering your true purpose in life.

And that’s when I realized something from my own life: when my sense of purpose is high, I feel more abundant, and vice versa.

So… how do you find purpose?

Dr. Beck has an interesting answer: “Ask yourself what feels lighter in your body.”

And then ask: How can I lean more into that?

The idea is that relaxation and joy in your body are signs of purpose.

This blew my mind.

I always saw purpose as something you just knew intuitively.

I never thought of it as something you lean into more and more through feeling.

But how do you expect to find purpose when you work a job that drains you, live with people that drain you, and have responsibilities that drain you?

Here’s the answer:

Find just one small thing that makes you feel light.

Maybe it’s a conversation, a book, a walk, or a moment.

Then lean into that.

Keep trying to create moments around that feeling—again and again.

And over time, you’ll slowly start building your purpose without even realizing it.

Signing our Biggest Deal Yet

I know it’s easy to say “just feel abundant and things will come your way.”

But strangely enough—it works.

So I wanted to speak from my own experience.

Just last week, I shared that a client dropped our services.

I knew we did the best we could, so I was grateful for the opportunity to work with them.

I continued doing my best to give to our remaining clients, and something remarkable happened.

Just yesterday, we signed one of our biggest deals yet.

Abundance doesn’t always show up how or when you expect it.

It flows when you live in a state of gratitude, giving, and purpose.

I leaned into what felt lighter in my body and what allowed me to contribute at the highest level.

Ironically, this client (the one who got the best results yet) was also the first one where I wasn’t as involved in the day-to-day.

And that felt lighter.

Like my purpose was to fit in all these great people into our team who could deliver exceptional results for this client.

And I could focus on my zone of genius.

Letting go, trusting the team, and stepping into a more visionary role was what called me.

And somehow, the results reflected that energy.

Purpose builds when you follow what feels light.

Abundance follows when you live from that place.

A Beautiful Quote to Reflect Upon
